Two types of Bachelor’s Degree are offered in Interior Design:

• Bachelor’s of Science

• Bachelor’s of Fine Arts

To complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design can take 2-4 years.

Associate’s Degree is also offered in Interior Design. Getting an Associate’s degree can attract employers.

Few major colleges offer Master’s in Interior Design.

After earning Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, you need National Council for Interior Design  Qualification (NCIDQ) because passing this exam allows to become a Licensed Interior Design.

It is recommended to get a MBA if you are planning to open your own business.

The common courses you need to take in college to be a successful interior designer are: visual and design communication, materials and construction, lighting design, sustainable design, usability and interior design, computer-aided design (CAD), psychology and color.
